Wanito: Music

A Letter To My Son

(Click on the song title above to read the lyrics!)
Chorus
Elevate your mind from the common-place
Respect God and self as you run the race
Life is more than vain pursuits
And villains surely perish with their fruits

Writing this letter to my unborn son
I plan to give it to him when he hits 21
The day he says “Dad I just wanna have fun”
I gotta let him know ain’t nothing new under the sun

Verse 1
21 years and ten months ago
I felt the urge to write a couple things you need to know
The days when so called born again Christians
Were in love with the world
And entertained by sin
Dear son,
I don’t know where to begin
People have turned away from God
And let the Devil come in
Everywhere you turn now there’s so much sin
Lust, pride and vanity are seeded deep within man
I don’t understand
Has evil no end?
Even believers forgot in whom they depend
God the father is calling back his children
To live above the crowd
By His 10 commandments
And though many claim to be washed by the blood
I’m telling you son many are lost in the flood
Trust me you don’t want to be promiscuous
What you see on TV is so ridiculous
(Now listen)

Chorus

Verse 2
I can’t imagine things getting any worst though
People are seeking for truth
Within a Da Vinci Code
Hollywood is mocking the Gospel
While some evangelists preach a false Gospel
In the midst of lies in disguise
A deception is on a rise
Young girls striving to be American Idols
Boys hoping to be the next Jay Z
Violence, sexuality and vanity
A threesome calling you to be all you can
What a fallacy, “as seen on TV”
Where a glorified sin is a viewer’s envy
Can’t they see the plot of the enemy:
Making evil seem like a part of me?
Trust me you don’t want to be a gangsta
The Devil may seem friendly but he’s against ya

Chorus

So the purpose of this long letter
Is to let you know that I know better
Man’s only motto is “Get that cheddar”
But in Christ you’ll be so much greater
We ain’t that much different from Israel
A chosen people with a message to tell
We ain’t perfect and God know it so well
He looks at Christ whenever we fail
But wait, this ain’t no cheap grace
My son, Jesus took your place
His blood makes you a heavenly citizen
Not of the world but in the world
You gotta put your faith in him
In this race many run so few finish
Last may be first while first may perish
Hustle, and store them treasures in heaven
Spread the word and when he comes
You’ll see you friends in heaven
Trust me you don’t want the world’s wisdom
What you need is to seek first the kingdom
(Now listen)
